About this grant

The Participative Development Initiative assists communities in implementing sustainable programs through training and mobilization of resources from their local governments for development initiatives. It advocates for the sustainable use of natural and human resources for economic and social development. Mott’s previous support helped build the institutional capacity of community-based structures to enable them to implement sustainable development programs. The grantee will train members of ward committees, the structures through which communities participate in local government, and community-based organizations to develop and implement sustainable economic development programs at the local level. The grantee will further assist community members to engage and negotiate with local governments to ensure that community-initiated programs are included in local government planning processes and will provide hands-on assistance and guidance in the implementation of the development projects identified by the target communities.
