About this grant
In December 2005, the Great Lakes’ governors released a proposed interstate compact that, once ratified, will establish a new, ecologically based program to manage water withdrawals and diversions throughout the United States portion of the basin. The Michigan Environmental Council, a statewide organization with more than 70 member groups, will help lead the efforts of the Michigan environmental community to educate citizens, state officials, and other opinion leaders about the compact and related water management policy reform issues.
