About this grant
Nearly three years after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita devastated Louisiana’s Gulf Coast, the region is still trying to recover from the disaster. Despite a low unemployment rate, there are approximately 750,000 people who are employable, but are unable to find work. Alternative staffing organizations, which are temporary staffing firms owned and operated by community-based agencies, have the potential to bridge the gap between the needs of employers and employees. This renewal grant to Public/Private Ventures will support the continued development of two or three alternative staffing organizations serving the New Orleans area.
