About this grant
The South African Institute for Advancement, also known as Inyathelo, was established to promote philanthropy and to develop leadership capacity in the South African nonprofit sector. Mott has provided general purpose support to the grantee to implement various programs including training on fundraising for nonprofits; convening and mentoring donors on appropriate ways of giving; developing and distributing information for donors and nonprofits; and hosting the philanthropy awards, which have become a major event in the philanthropy circles in South Africa. The grantee also hosted a donors’ conference in 2010 that brought together South African and international donors for the first time to share experiences and seek ways to collaborate in supporting social development initiatives. This grant will support the grantee to deepen its training for nonprofits; expand its resource centre; and offer an advisory service to support nonprofit leaders to develop viable sustainability strategies for their organizations.
