About this grant

The South African Institute for Advancement, also known as Inyathelo, was founded to promote philanthropy, leadership development, and fundraising for the nonprofit sector in South Africa. Mott previously made grants to it to provide leadership training and mentoring for women leaders in the nonprofit sector and to establish a peer learning cooperative for leaders of community foundations and small to intermediate local grantmakers. This grant will provide institutional support to Inyathelo for its own programs and activities. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing an endowment for the organization to ensure its long-term sustainability and supporting its work aimed at unlocking local resources for development and poverty eradication and assisting nonprofits to develop a more professional approach to fundraising.
