About this grant

The project goal is to encourage constructive public participation in policy development and community decisionmaking in Croatia. To this end, the project will focus on the timely and critical issue of public space management at local levels in Croatia. The Multimedia Institute will work closely with other leading Croatian nongovernmental organizations and experts to assess current participatory planning practices in Croatia; link local government officials, civic leaders, and experts with an interest in this field; highlight the importance of participatory approaches to better outcomes; and promote best practices in public space management through a demonstration project in Zagreb. Through these activities, the project will generate user friendly, Web-based resources and initiate an informal network of experts and practitioners. Based in Zagreb, the Multimedia Institute’s programming combines the use of cutting edge information and communication technology with social activism, particularly among young people.
