About this grant

The project goal is to build support within Serbian society for constructive efforts to deal with the legacies of Serbia’s involvement in the wars of the 1990s in the former Yugoslavia. With a focus on women activists and local women’s groups as catalysts of change in this process, Women in Black will conduct trainings, publish reference materials, facilitate trial monitoring, and organize visits to memorials and commemorations in order to engage women in transitional justice initiatives. Based in Belgrade, Serbia, Women in Black was established in 1991 as a network of women activists who opposed the wars in the former Yugoslavia.
