About this grant
This grant will enable the Intercultural Development Research Association to facilitate a series of cross-race dialogues between African-American and Latino communities in the South and Southwest on education issues. The Intercultural Development Research Association is a Texas-based organization committed to strengthening schools that work for all children. Using the school segregation court cases of Brown vs. the Board of Education and Mendez vs. Westminster as the backdrop, the Intercultural Development Research Association will work to create a common discourse on expanding pathways to graduation for minority children. Through this project, the Intercultural Development Research Association will provide a model for cross-race dialogue and action, build a policy agenda and action blueprint on dropout prevention and recovery and improved graduation rates, and cultivate a legacy of shared leadership and accountability for African-American and Latino stakeholders on education issues.
