Opening Career Pathways: Developing Sector Strategies to Position Low-Income Youth for Careers in High-Demand Sectors

About this grant

This grant will provide support to YouthBuild USA for the Opening Career Pathways project. Through this project, the grantee is aligning education and sectoral workforce strategies to provide students in its network access to advanced opportunities in the construction and healthcare industry. This focused career development effort has allowed the grantee to create articulation agreements with postsecondary institutions, develop certification training pathways, and identify placement and apprenticeship opportunities in the above industries. Recommended support will enable the grantee to deepen and expand its education and sector-based activities in key metropolitan areas and develop a statewide sector strategy, in one to three states, where there is a large presence of YouthBuild programs and/or affiliates.
