About this grant

This grant will enable the Philadelphia Youth Network to continue to convene and support a citywide partnership aimed at addressing and raising the visibility of the dropout crisis. Through this project, the grantee has been instrumental in advancing a graduation and dropout agenda by convening the school district of Philadelphia and key education, government, nonprofit, and service providers in developing programmatic interventions and districtwide efforts that improve outcomes for dropouts. Since embarking on this initiative, the on-time graduation rate has increased nine percentage points, and more than 2,000 new educational seats have been created for off-track students in Philadelphia. Recommended support will enable the grantee to undertake a new research agenda on graduation challenges and opportunities, identify new high school models for high risk populations, and inform local and state policy discussions on dropout prevention/recovery.
