About this grant
This grant to Columbia University in the City of New York provides continued support to the Attorneys General Oversight and Regulation of Charitable Organizations project of the National State Attorneys General Program at Columbia Law School. The goal of the project is to foster a comprehensive approach by state attorneys general to protect charitable assets and ensure their lawful, highest, and best use in the public interest. Over the past two years, through two national conferences, consultations and visits to state attorney general offices, trainings, and a Web site, the project served as: 1) a catalyst for issues development and information exchange among attorneys general, other stakeholders, and scholars; and 2) a resource for attorneys general seeking information and assistance on law enforcement or negotiation efforts. Over the next two years, the project will continue its educational activities and conduct annual conferences on topics such as fraud prevention and the relationship between state regulators and the federal government.
