About this grant
Historically, Lake Superior has been the most pristine of the Great Lakes, but development and industrial pollution are threatening its water quality and aquatic habitat. In 2006, the Minnesota Environmental Partnership, a statewide network of groups, led the development of the Minnesota Great Lakes Agenda that calls for actions to protect the lakes. Since that time, the partnership and other stakeholders have worked to implement key aspects of the agenda, such as controls on mercury pollution and implementation of the Great Lakes Compact. With renewal support from Mott, the work to implement other aspects of the agenda, such as addressing the water quality impacts from mining activities, will continue.
