About this grant
This grant will support the California Statewide Afterschool Network in partnership with the Center for Community School Partnerships at the University of California – Davis and the California Department of Education to establish professional learning communities among new and current afterschool programs across the state. Learning communities will engage in a series of facilitated conversations around member-identified issues, as well as issues common to all communities such as collaboration and alignment with the regular day program or implementation of defined programmatic elements. This work is relevant because of the significant increase in afterschool funding available in the state due to the implementation of Proposition 49. It is expected that the professional learning community conversations will give rise to substantial knowledge and subsequent action that will be of statewide and national significance for influencing policy, informing practice, and improving professional development.
