About this grant
This grant will support Education Sector in its efforts to identify and analyze accountability-related innovations currently being used in afterschool and nontraditional educational settings. The report produced from this research will: 1) examine how these strategies work in practice, the tools’ benefits and drawbacks, and the feasibility of bringing such innovations to a broader scale in traditional public school systems; and 2) propose a series of questions for educators and policymakers to consider as they try to develop an accountability system that will offer a more complete picture of how our students are gaining the competence they need to succeed in life. Additionally, through three events, Education Sector will start cross-sector dialogues that will enable growth in a broader definition and assessment of student learning and develop actionable next steps in creating a more comprehensive accountability system.
