About this grant
Throughout the United States, and especially here in Michigan, there is an intensifying pattern of unequal economic competition among local jurisdictions accompanied by inefficient, environmentally damaging land use and development practices that threaten every community. The increasing geographic income stratification, which has already had devastating consequences for poor and minority communities, has begun to curtail educational and job opportunities and the quality of life for working and middle class families, especially those in first-ring suburbs. Ameregis has documented these trends, and will provide technical assistance to Michigan-based grantees working on growth management and urban revitalization.
