About this grant
Research for Action is a nonprofit organization founded in 1992 to conduct education research and evaluation with an emphasis on civic engagement and community outreach. Research for Action works with school districts, educational institutions, and community organizations to improve the educational opportunities for poor and disabled students. The grantee has studied the ways in which youth-led organizations have engaged in education reform, built leadership and power, and collaborated with other organizations and allies. The primary purpose of this project is to document that learning by publishing an academic case study on youth-led education organizing in Philadelphia.
