About this grant
This grant will support INESC’s initiative to engage parliamentarians in debate about regional integration issues in South America. The project will expand the discussion among organized civil society groups and elected parliamentarians in the South American Common Market countries, as well as the newly inaugurated South American Common Market parliament. Through this project, INESC will inform and educate parliamentarians to actively engage in decisionmaking on the different integration projects by their national governments, international financial institutions, and regional governance mechanisms. The issues to be addressed include transborder water and electricity generation, as well as the encroachment of agriculture and livestock farming on primary forest areas and other bioregions to meet increased agricultural and biofuel demands.
