About this grant
This grant will enable the Harlem Children’s Zone to continue to develop a program exclusively for black and Latino males. The Harlem Children’s Zone is a comprehensive community-building initiative focused on improving outcomes for poor children and their families in Harlem. Through the Young Male Initiative, the grantee is providing nearly 300 fifth- through eighth-grade boys with intensive academic, mentoring, social development, and recreational activities. Renewal support will allow the grantee to further develop the Young Male Initiative as an intervention that addresses the life, education, and employment needs of males of color.
