About this grant
Cleveland Botanical Garden’s Green Corps Urban Youth Program provides disadvantaged students with work-study experiences that add relevance to their high school education, encourages them to consider college education or vocational training, and prepares them to become responsible employees. During the initial grant period, funding supported an independent evaluation of the program, which found significant positive impacts on students’ leadership skills, social networks, and overall workforce readiness. This grant will enable the grantee to disseminate the evaluation findings to relevant audiences, with a particular emphasis on youth-serving organizations. Founded in 1930, Cleveland Botanical Garden engages people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities in experiencing the jobs of gardening and understanding the interdependence of plants, animals, people, and the environment.
