About this grant

This one-year renewal grant will help support the Phase II efforts of the Council of Michigan Foundations and the Transforming Michigan Philanthropy Through Diversity and Inclusion initiative. The grantee is a membership association comprised of more than 350 foundations and grantmaking corporations. Since 2001, the grantee has used the strategy of advancing diversity and inclusion throughout the philanthropic sector to help fulfill its mission of enhancing, improving, and increasing philanthropy. Building on the research, planning, program development, and implementation accomplished during Phase I of the Transforming Michigan Philanthropy Through Diversity and Inclusion initiative work, Phase II will offer more mentor and mentee opportunities for African-American, Arab-American, and Hispanic-American demographics; produce a fourth Passing the Leadership Baton event in Southeast Michigan; continue to offer joint programming for Emerging Practitioners in Philanthropy and Young Nonprofit Professionals Network; and pilot the first multigenerational Family Retreat for Arab Americans.
