About this grant

The program goal is to promote effective civic activism among informal citizen groups in Russia. The grantee will strengthen its public consultation and mentoring services for such groups. It will further develop its online database of learning resources and successful case studies and will work to foster peer learning among initiative groups. Regular public events and dialogue will focus on equipping both civic organizations and local authorities with the understanding necessary to promote more effective and responsive government services. In 2008-2009, the grantee staged over 80 such events. Through its interregional Civil Policy School, it brought together organizations from across Russia to contribute recommendations on government reforms of the interior ministry and police. The Civic Analysis and Independent Research Center was established in 2007 by a group of Perm-based human rights groups seeking to support the development of a new generation of rights activists in Russia.
