About this grant
The program goal is to promote effective civic activism among both organized and informal citizen groups in Russia. The Productive Initiatives Development Society will take over responsibility for delivery of support services for regional civic organizations from its partner, the Civic Analysis and Independent Research Center. The grantee will provide training and consulting support to local civic groups seeking to solve practical public interest issues. They will also strengthen peer-to-peer networks of citizens and nonprofits to improve skill sharing among local actors committed to improving local quality of life. In 2014, the grantee carried out a range of targeted trainings, consultations, and public workshops reaching over 6,000 engaged citizens. Through the Understandable City and Understandable Healthcare projects, the grantee and local partners produced information about local city services and healthcare to help make these more accessible to local inhabitants. The Productive Initiatives Development Society was established in 1998 by a group of Perm-based civic activists seeking to support the development of a new generation of rights activists and active citizens in Russia.
