About this grant
The Communications Network is an affinity group of foundation communications professionals whose mission is to improve the effectiveness and accountability of foundations by promoting and strengthening the strategic practice of communications in philanthropy. In 2008-2009, the grantee increased its membership from 200 to 350; offered online professional development programs; conducted research on emerging forms of digital communications technologies; and produced publications on topics designed to inform and advance communications practices. During 2010-2012, the grantee intends to: 1) increase membership to 500; 2) conduct research on topics related to social media and the role of communications professionals in advocacy efforts; 3) collect new demographic data and compare the findings to a previous study of foundations with communications-focused positions; and 4) offer high quality learning opportunities through annual conferences, a webinar series, an interactive Web site, and other social media tools.
