About this grant
The program goal is to encourage the economic and social development of rural communities in central Croatia. To this end, during the grant period the Regional Foundation for Local Development Zamah will provide grants, organize training, raise public awareness about civic responsibility, facilitate cross-sectoral cooperation, and promote philanthropy. In 2010-2011, the grantee supported more than 80 projects totaling approximately $200,000. The grantee also organized events to stimulate local philanthropy, including organizing the first Women’s Philanthropy Award. Direct grantmaking was also complemented by training and roundtable discussions and work with local businesses and local government officials to encourage transparent and effective funding mechanisms for civic initiatives. In 2012-2013, the grantee will continue to support participatory community development initiatives with grants and will diversify funding for this work by raising funds from local communities, businesses, and local governments for targeted grantmaking programs. The grantee will strengthen its organizational capacities by increasing the number of active volunteers. The grantee was established in 2006 and is based in Zagreb.
