About this grant

The Nonprofit Listening Post Project monitors in a systematic and timely way what is happening to nonprofit organizations in the United States. Key features include a network of over 1,150 grassroots nonprofits that serve as the project’s listening posts on the major fieldwide developments; regular surveying of these organizations using a rapid turnaround, Web-based technology; roundtable discussions among the innovative executives identified through these surveys; case studies examining particularly interesting innovations in more depth; and regular, broadly distributed communiqués on survey and roundtable results. This grant increase will support the completion of survey work and widespread dissemination of findings about the value proposition of the nonprofit sector, elevating the issue and stimulating a broader conversation on the topic at a time of great challenge to nonprofits. The project is conducted by the Center for Civil Society Studies at Johns Hopkins University, one of America’s premier research universities.
