About this grant
Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs is a federally funded program designed to increase the number of low-income and disadvantaged students attending college. The state of Michigan receives and redistributes federal funds to various educational providers in the state. Central Michigan University received funding from the state of Michigan to work with Flint Community School and charter school enrollees living in the Flint area. This grant will support the work of Central Michigan University with a cohort of 100 students in grades 7-12 who are eligible for assistance through this program. By receiving mentoring, tutoring, parent education, and attending campus visits through participation, students are better prepared to enter and complete a college degree program.
