About this grant

The program goal is to increase public understanding of and support for principles of human rights and civic engagement in Russia. LLC MEMO will use social marketing techniques to foster active engagement of Russian citizens around rights-related issues. It will conduct sociological surveys to identify key issues around which people can organize and will conduct resulting online and offline marketing and advertising campaigns to foster engagement. In 2011-2013, the grantee’s nonprofit partner, Information Agency MEMO.RU, concluded its work in the Kirov region, having facilitated the development of a self-sustaining initiative group focused on local environmental issues. In the Vologda region, it initiated a campaign of historical preservation aimed at securing the region’s unique but threatened heritage of wooden architecture. LLC MEMO was established in 1997 as a commercial partner of Information Agency MEMO.RU. It provides a range of services aimed at promoting its partner’s public information and social marketing efforts. Profits generated by LLC MEMO are used to further support its nonprofit partner’s mission.
