About this grant

This grant will enable the School & Main Institute to research and develop a new alternative education model and prototype for vulnerable youth. The Schools for the Future project is an effort to blend career and technical education research and practice into an alternative education model where students can meet academic requirements and standards and participate in a sequence of courses focused on career development/preparedness and post-secondary education pursuits. Recommended support will enable the grantee to complete a research brief on exploring innovations and strategies that take a more targeted and integrated approach toward building career and employment options for students who are significantly behind in course credits, have dropped out of school, have academic skills as low as the fourth grade, and might benefit from a model that emphasizes career and technical education.
