About this grant
This grant provides support for Independent Sector’s newly purchased building in Washington, D.C. The grantee aims to establish a nucleus in the nation’s capital around which to gather, nurture, and expand ongoing public policy collaboration for the entire nonprofit sector. The grantee plans to cover the $33.5 million acquisition and improvement costs through bond and traditional commercial financing and fundraising efforts, as well as its own reserves. Besides additional office space to support a more robust public policy, advocacy, and leadership agenda, the Center for the Nonprofit Community will include a conference facility, a reference library, guest office spaces, and technology for virtual meetings. Independent Sector is a coalition of leading nonprofits, foundations, and corporations that aims to strengthen nonprofit initiative, philanthropy, and citizen action in the United States.
