About this grant

The South African Holocaust Foundation is a human rights education organization dedicated to creating a more just and caring society based on a culture of respect for diversity and a commitment to democracy. Using the history of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust as a framework and case study, the foundation developed educational materials for South African high school learners. Its belief is that Holocaust history helps students develop an understanding of the consequences of prejudice, racism, and stereotyping. This grant supports training of senior teachers and curriculum advisors to have the capacity and tools to facilitate ongoing, regionally based training programs for high school teachers, enabling them to better deliver high quality lessons on Nazi Germany and the Holocaust as recently mandated by the South African Education Department.
