About this grant

GrantsFire is a system which captures and publishes grant information using Web 2.0 tools and technology, including the machine-readable “hGrants” format. Incorporating GrantsFire into the Foundation Center’s own electronic reporting program, currently used by 450 foundations worldwide, will improve the timeliness and accuracy of foundation grant data. The Mott Foundation previously supported the development of GrantsFire through a grant to Solpath, a nonprofit technology consulting firm. Solpath launched the GrantsFire Web site, created “hGrants” specifications, and developed a grants aggregator, a feed validator, and a MicroEdge GIFTS plug-in. Solpath has agreed to transfer the system to Foundation Center, which is expected to expand the use of GrantsFire. The Foundation Center is a national nonprofit service organization dedicated to fostering public understanding of the foundation field by collecting, organizing, analyzing, and disseminating information on foundations, corporate giving, and related subjects.
