About this grant
The program goal is to increase involvement of local communities in the prevention of violence against women and girls in the Southern Federal District of Russia. The grantee and its local partners will work to increase public awareness about gender-based violence and to generate an atmosphere of intolerance toward such violence within local communities. Community mobilization teams will be trained in outreach techniques, cross-cultural awareness, and appropriate counseling skills in order to coordinate project activities in their respective regions. In addition, partners will work together to build collaboration among governmental agencies, including health care providers, law enforcement bodies, and schools, to provide appropriate services and support for women and girls who are victims of violence. Established in 1995, the National Center for Prevention of Violence "ANNA" provides social, economic, and legal assistance to women and children in crisis. It coordinates the National Network Against Violence, which today unites over 160 organizations across Russia.
