About this grant
The program goal is to promote civic engagement and the mobilization of community resources through volunteerism. During the previous grant period, the grantee was able to adapt the British TimeBank model, a volunteer brokering system, and successfully establish a TimeBank in Nizhni Novgorod involving over 500 registered volunteer users. In 2011-2013, Nizhni Novgorod Voluntary Service staff will conduct study visits to other countries with successful experience with TimeBank implementation in order to learn and further adapt different approaches to the TimeBank model, expand the TimeBank model to two new Russian regions, create a strong regional and interregional network, increase the number of participants, and establish the sustainability and independence of the Nizhni Novgorod TimeBank. Established in 1997, Nizhni Novgorod Voluntary Service works with local businesses and charities to promote civic and community activism among young people.
