About this grant
The project goal is to improve the quality and effectiveness of policy development and implementation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Populari, a Bosnian think tank established in 2007, promotes informed debate on social, economic, and political developments through a variety of activities, research, and analytical reports. During the grant period, the grantee will work at national and European Union levels and with a range of partners to carry out field-based studies and assessments and stimulate discussion of policy issues through seminars, public presentations, and bilateral meetings. The grantee will focus on the region’s European Union integration and accession process and countering the rise of illiberalism and populism in Bosnia-Herzegovina and the wider Balkan region. In 2014-2016, the grantee conducted extensive field research and produced six in-depth reports on topics including security challenges in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Balkan region’s common foreign policy objectives, and relations between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Turkey. Populari is registered in Bosnia-Herzegovina and has staff and associated researchers based in Sarajevo, Berlin, Brussels, Pristina, and Belgrade.
