About this grant

The National Center on Philanthropy and the Law, an academic center located at New York University School of Law, is the only institution of its kind focused on the single discipline of law and philanthropy. The grantee’s goals of increasing the knowledge of students, faculty, legal and nonprofit practitioners, and policymakers in the area of law and philanthropy; improving the practice of law in this field; and increasing the efficacy of the nonprofit sector are realized through eight core activities: curriculum development, scholarly research, conferences, library collection, bibliography, fellowships, placement and career counseling, and faculty development. Activities over the grant period will include hosting conferences, scholarly research and publications on nonprofit legal issues, providing job placement and career counseling for law students and lawyers interested in the nonprofit sector, maintaining and updating a nonprofit legal library and bibliography, and providing fellowships in nonprofit law for up to four law school graduates.
