About this grant

The program goal is to develop the potential of primary and secondary schools to be catalysts for increased openness, tolerance, inclusiveness, and participatory decisionmaking in local communities in Bosnia-Herzegovina. To this end, the International Association “Interactive Open Schools” based in Tuzla, Bosnia-Herzegovina, will work intensively with more than 190 schools annually in Tuzla and other cantons to conduct training, create networking opportunities, and provide informational resources to teachers and school administrators as well as parents and students. The grantee will also be a resource for schools and other nonprofits in Croatia, Serbia, and the wider Balkan region that are promoting community education and community school principles and practices. In 2015–2016, the grantee provided training and other support services to school administrators, teachers, and school clubs and associations and disseminated information and resources regionally. More than 100 schools participated in one or more of the grantee’s activities.
