International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools

About this grant

The program goal is to develop the International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools as a focal point for knowledge exchange among practitioners from around the world. Based in the United Kingdom and with broad experience in promoting the community school agenda, ContinYou will oversee the ongoing development and formal registration of the centre. It will work to raise the profile of community schools among educational authorities, peer organizations and networks, and funders around the world. It will also continue to develop and deliver a range of training and consulting services to help build the capacity of community school support organizations. During 2009-2011, the grantee mapped the presence of community schools in over 65 countries and identified an informal taxonomy of community schools to assist in better targeting support. Established in 2003, ContinYou offers supplementary learning opportunities in the United Kingdom to people who have gained the least from formal education and training.
