About this grant

The program goal is to promote the development of community schools around the world. The International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools will work to raise the profile of community schools among educational authorities, peer organizations and networks, and funders internationally. It will also continue to develop and deliver a range of training and consulting services to help build the capacity of community school support organizations. From inception until 2012, the grantee provided a cycle of Webinars on topical issues in community education. It also led a series of training workshops for international partners on issues including social inclusion and quality standards. It mapped community schools in over 65 countries and identified an informal taxonomy of these schools to assist in better targeting support. Formally registered in 2013, the International Centre of Excellence for Community Schools began as a project of the former British educational charity ContinYou. It seeks to draw on and disseminate the growing and diverse experiences of community schools practice internationally.
