About this grant
This grant provides partial support to Columbia University in the City of New York for the law school’s Presidential Transition Project of the National State Attorneys General Program. The Mott Foundation has supported the Charities Law Project of this program since 2006. This summer, the president of the National Association of Attorneys General requested that the program design and implement a presidential transition project through which the next presidential administration can work effectively with state attorneys general. Program consultants include several former state attorneys general and key staff of state attorneys general offices. Using their credibility and expertise, the program consultants will facilitate dialogues between state attorneys general and both candidates’ transition teams. After the election, program consultants will continue to assist attorneys general, as well as the Office of Presidential Transition, various departments and federal agencies, and issue advocates, in understanding each others’ priorities and concerns, including issues pertaining to nonprofit regulation and oversight.
