About this grant

This grant to the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission will provide a portion of the required local matching funds to conduct a study of the major transportation corridors in Flint and Genesee County. These highways are major shipping routes between the United States and Canada, as well as the transportation backbone that connects Flint to other Michigan cities and states. For years, the I-75/US-23 interchange has been identified as a transportation "choke point," hindering the movement of freight in, out, and through Genesee County. The study will identify the best solutions for improving connectivity between these major north/south and east/west corridors, which will aid local traffic movement and foster economic development efforts.
