About this grant
This grant will support the transition of the Flint Youth Theater to the governance of the Flint Institute of Music. The Flint Youth Theater has been operated by the Flint Cultural Center Corporation since its move from the Flint Community Schools in 2003. Having the youth theater and drama school become part of the Flint Institute of Music (which includes the Flint Symphony Orchestra and the Flint School of Performing Arts) will consolidate all of the cultural center’s performing arts operations in one organization. Both organizations focus primarily on performing arts education and the production of artistic presentations. Even though the entities already partner and collaborate in several activities, this restructuring will create even greater programmatic opportunities.
