About this grant
This grant will support the Flint Neighborhood Improvement and Preservation Project’s efforts to open a full-service grocery store in downtown Flint. With the addition of new apartments and student dormitories, many more residents are living downtown, and the need for typical support services, such as a grocery store, are increasing. Witherbee’s Market will be a 10,000 square foot, neighborhood grocery store that will carry green produce, dry goods, dairy, meat, fish, bakery goods, and a deli, offering downtown residents convenient access to nutritious, affordable foods. The site has 27 off-street parking spaces and the business is expected to hire 15 employees.
