About this grant
Special Olympics Michigan provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them the opportunity to develop physical fitness, various motor and cognitive skills, self-confidence, and friendships. The grantee offers its services free of charge and accepts all participants regardless of ability level. Special Olympics Michigan-Area XIII serves Genesee and Lapeer counties, and currently serves approximately 1,152 "special" athletes with opportunities to train and compete in 20 sporting events throughout the year.
