About this grant

Established in 1941, St. John Vianney Parish, a Catholic church located in Flint, Michigan, serves 700 local families through various forms of community outreach and ministry. St. John Vianney Parish extends its services to low-income women and their families in Flint and Genesee County through the North End Women’s Life Center. The center offers literacy and adult education, emergency assistance, computer skills, and afterschool and summer youth programs. The center also offers women with low to no income an intense, three-year program that encourages life change through personal growth, basic skill development, and self-esteem building as well as employment. During the grant period, the center will implement a self-contained work environment by launching two small-scale enterprises — a catering and sewing business.
