About this grant
The Center for International Environmental Law was founded in 1989 to strengthen international environmental law, policy, and management. This grant will support activities that promote and seek stronger implementation of sound environmental and social policies and practices at international financial institutions. Grant funds will also be used to ensure there are strong environmental and social standards for climate finance and that communities benefit from and meaningfully participate in decisionmaking on climate finance. During the last grant, the grantee led efforts to enhance World Bank environmental and social standards, as well as strengthen the World Bank’s energy strategy. Activities supported by this grant include research and analysis of existing policies, development of policy reform proposals, and coordination of nongovernmental organizations’ coalitions addressing climate finance and safeguard policies.
