About this grant
The Center for International Environmental Law was founded in 1989 to strengthen international environmental law, policy, and management. This grant will support activities that promote and seek stronger implementation of sound environmental and social policies and practices at international financial institutions. Mott support will be used to advocate for continued robust, mandatory standards at the World Bank in light of its safeguard policy review, and ensure that the United Nation’s Green Climate Fund incorporates strong environmental and social standards for climate finance. During the last two years, the grantee led efforts to ensure that World Bank environmental and social safeguards covered new World Bank Group lending, as well as strengthened monitoring of its private-sector lending via the financial markets.
