About this grant
The program goal is to increase public support for principles of human rights and civic engagement in Russia. To this end, the Andrei Sakharov Foundation will continue to create a public space for broad-based discussion and promotion of human rights and democratic thought. In addition to expert discussions, it will host theater productions, documentary photography exhibits, and other events. While a comprehensive fundraising strategy to engage individual donors will be developed, increased efforts will be made to disseminate discussions and events through a variety of online channels. In the period 2011-2013, the grantee expanded its network of online partners, resulting in over 10,000 people viewing its discussions online. Its human rights debate program "gogol.tv" was seen by over 90,000 viewers. Founded in 1993, the Andrei Sakharov Foundation works to promote the democratic ideals of Soviet dissident Andrei Sakharov and to honor victims of totalitarian oppression.
