About this grant
The project goal is to strengthen the capacity of nonprofits and communities in Central and Eastern Europe to use community organizing principles and techniques to engage community residents in addressing issues of common concern. To this end, the Center for Community Change in Washington, D.C., will support United States-based community organizers to provide training and advice to community leaders and nonprofits in Central and Eastern European countries and to consult on the development of a European network for community organizing. During the previous grant period, the center supported three training visits to the region by experienced community organizers. More than 150 people in six countries were trained in community organizing, and several important local initiatives were strengthened. The Center for Community Change is a long-established technical assistance provider with expertise in community organizing.
