About this grant
This grant will support WestEd in developing and conducting an evaluation of the New Day for Learning district-community partnerships that are implementing the elements outlined in the New Day for Learning report. The New Day for Learning framework builds on Mott’s afterschool work and focuses on providing a seamless learning system to improve student success that includes afterschool learning opportunities throughout the day, year-round and offered in multiple places throughout a community. These elements include expanding the definition of student success, using research-based knowledge about how students learn best, fostering collaboration, integrating various learning approaches and places, and providing new opportunities for leadership and professional development. The district-community partnerships include San Francisco; Providence, Rhode Island; Atlanta; Chicago; Charleston, South Carolina; Denver; Flint; Omaha; Peekskill, New York; and St. Paul. This project will provide the demonstration sites with immediate feedback and provide lessons learned to the field.
