Materials Development and Website Management for Paralegal Training

About this grant

Education and Training Unit focuses on democracy, development, and human rights education in South Africa. It specializes in training, facilitation, and materials development for community-based organizations, public servants, and public representatives. Past support allowed the grantee to update and disseminate a Paralegal Training Manual to community-based paralegals, advice workers, and community activists who provide legal advice and related services to poor people. The grantee also trained paralegals and youth activists on how to use the manual. The manual was made available both online and in hard copy, and covered subjects including environmental law, democracy and public participation, land, housing, and small business law. With this grant, the grantee will continue printing and disseminating the paralegal manual, keeping the website up to date, training paralegals and other civil society groups on how to use the manual, and doing research for the next edition of the manual.
